About

After doing time in academia (one of my previous careers), I moved to Madrid with my young family. I had spent years studying literature, writing, and Spanish, but this is where I do it for real. For the moment, I’ve tucked away my PhD (Tulane University, New Orleans) and I teach younger kids. I handed back my tenure, and took up the trombone. Now I write with abandon whenever I can; it happens easily. My greater purpose, as I see it, is to be a living demonstration that vocation can be timeless, ageless, and as stubborn as an oak tree sprouting and growing out of the pavement. I hope to offer life to others, in the way of motivation, example, inspiration, solidarity: whatever you want to call it. Whatever works.

Here, I’ll share my writing as my budding career develops, and when possible, pass on the life lessons I’ve been fortunate to have learned. I think the two are compatible.
